  • How much does the average HRV Installation cost?

The average cost to install an HRV system in Canada is around $7,200 during the framing stage of a new construction or renovation project.

This cost may fluctuate depending on the size of the HRV needed, complexity of installation and brand of equipment.

  • How is an HRV installed?

An HRV isn't a very complicated piece of equipment, but ensuring the system is designed properly is necessary for it to work properly!

An HRV is installed by installing ductwork throughout your house and by installing a fresh air intake and exhaust outlet on the exterior of your house.

A fresh air vent will need to be run to each room in the house for the system to properly recycle the air in your home.

  • Can I install an HRV with a furnace?

Yes! The process to install an HRV with a furnace is easier than installing a standalone HRV system.

To install an HRV with a furnace, you'll need to install a fresh air intake and an exhaust outlet on the exterior of your house then tie in the supply and exhaust into your furnace ducting.

  • How is HRV ducting installed?

HRV ducting is installed by adding ductwork throughout your entire home. When installing the ducting for an HRV, you'll want to add a fresh air supply vent to every room in your home and a minimum of 1 exhaust vent per floor.

Although you have to install ducting for a standalone HRV system, the ducting is much smaller than the average furnace ducting because it distributes much less air than a furnace.

  • Can I install an HRV in a ductless home?

    Absolutely!

To install an HRV in a ductless house, you'll need to install small ducts to distribute the fresh air and exhaust the stale air. Some HRV ducting systems can be as small as 3 inches in diameter, making it easy to retrofit in a ductless house.
